BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Whittier Christian Defeats Santa Margarita, 70-47

Joe Konstantarakis scored 18 points and Dan Long added 16 as Whittier Christian High School defeated Santa Margarita, 70-47, in an Olympic League basketball game Tuesday at Santa Margarita.

Ruben Oronoz added 13 and Brian Uribe 11 for Whittier Christian (6-7, 2-1). Dan Bathey scored 14 for Santa Margarita.

Whittier Christian took an 18-6 lead after a quarter and led, 34-18, at the half.

In another Olympic League game:

Orange Lutheran 77, Ontario Christian 71--Kent Dowding scored 20 points and Daryl Cole 19 to lead Orange Lutheran at home.

The Lancers trailed, 19-18, after the first quarter, but led, 38-36, at the half. John Foster scored 16 for Orange Lutheran (8-6, 2-1).

In the Academy League:

St. Margaret’s 81, Cal Lutheran 52--Ryan Westendorf scored 32 points and had 20 rebounds to lead St. Margaret’s at home.

Geoff Hanzlik, a sophomore who had never scored more than seven points in a high school game, had 20 for St. Margaret’s (8-4, 1-0). Cal Lutheran is 4-5, 0-1.

In the Metro League:

Pacific Shores 52, Hamilton 42--JP Cohen scored 25 points for Pacific Shores at the Capistrano Bay Recreation Center. Steve Hurst added 11 for Pacific Shores (2-5, 1-0).
