A 17-year-old Burbank boy was in extremely critical condition today after being stabbed several times during a gang dispute, police said.
The boy, whose name was not released, was found collapsed on the street in the 1600 block of Edison Road at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sgt. Don Goldberg said. He was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he underwent surgery to remove one lung, and was in the intensive care unit this morning, Goldberg said.
Goldberg said witnesses told investigators the teen-ager had been stabbed during a street fight and had staggered about a block before collapsing.
Police said that the victim is a gang member and that it is believed he was stabbed after exchanging words with members of another gang who confronted him in the residential neighborhood.
Goldberg said that detectives have not identified any suspects in the case and that it was unclear whether the gang members who attacked the victim were from Burbank.
