What a difference a hit pic makes: “sex, lies, and videotape’s” Andie MacDowell has wound up with back-to-back prestige projects.
Apart from a two-day swing into Los Angeles this week to appear at the L.A. Film Critics awards banquet, MacDowell is spending time in London, starring opposite John Malkovich in “The Object of Beauty.” Then she heads for New York City in mid-March, where she’ll team with Gerard Depardieu in the Peter Weir-directed “Greencard,” which Weir also wrote and produces.
For Avenue Entertainment, “Object” is directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg (“Brideshead Revisited”). The title refers to a stolen Henry Moore sculpture that makes its way among the film’s characters, who are all in search of love and happiness. Co-stars include Elizabeth Perkins and Peter Riegert.
“Greencard” is a romantic comedy in which botanist MacDowell agrees to a marriage of convenience to French waiter Depardieu. The reason: He needs a green card to work in the States and she longs for a rooftop garden apartment on Central Park West--in a complex that prohibits unmarried couples.
Ed Feldman, who teamed with Weir on “Witness,” exec produces.
