Bodies of 2 FDA Officials Found

SANTIAGO, Chile — The bodies of five people, including two U.S. Food and Drug Administration officials, were found Saturday in the wreckage of their small aircraft, which crashed three days ago in the Andes.
Authorities said a helicopter discovered the wreckage of the Cessna aircraft and confirmed that all aboard had perished when the plane crashed at about 10,000 feet on a mountain near the city of Copiapo in northern Chile. The bodies were scheduled to be recovered today, police said.
Among the dead are John F. Harty Jr., head of international affairs for the FDA, and Patrick J. Pouzar, an FDA inspections director, national police officials said.
Others aboard were the pilot, Lt. German Fuentes Meza of the national police force; Sergio Lazcano Arroyo, director of the Chilean Exporters Assn., and Oscar Badilla Saez, an official with the Chilean Agriculture Service.
The cause of the crash was not known.
