Our Priorities

I wish to thank Norman Cousins for speaking for so many of us who have been unable to adequately state the obvious: In many areas, our current ethical and moral codes are extremely out of alignment (“The City That Would Give Shelter,” Op-Ed Page, Jan. 10).

The idea that as a city or a county we could spend millions to watch modern-day gladiators/mercenaries in a contest of no real significance, while so many are homeless, hungry, ill or uneducated, would be inconceivable, except that it goes on every day, in every city.

I can’t even raise the specter of the millions we spend on other “leisure time” activities--while so many are in such pain.
