For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen:
* Don’t forget about an old-fashioned favorite--the lilac--or some of its new hybrids for attractive flowers and fragrance.
* Mouth-watering berries will be yours this spring if you plant some bare-root blackberries, raspberries or strawberries available now.
* This is one of the best times to transplant both evergreen and deciduous shrubs. Consult the staff at your local nursery or garden center for tips.
* Be sure your outdoor container plants, especially those located under eaves, are getting enough water if the rain isn’t reaching them.
