AT&T; May Seek Mutual-Aid Pact: AT&T;, embarrassed by last week’s massive long-distance network failure, is considering asking its competitors, MCI and US Sprint, for a mutual-aid agreement to prevent similar nationwide shutdowns. AT&T; officials say they are still only studying a possible pact, but that a proposal could be ready this week. MCI and US Sprint said they are willing to consider the idea.
