Campeau Unit Seeks to Resume Employee Discounts: Campeau Corp.’s American retail division requested bankruptcy court approval to reinstitute benefits that could shore up sagging employee morale, a court clerk said. Federated Stores Inc., the new holding company for Federated Department Stores and Allied Stores, asked Judge J. Vincent Aug Jr. for authority to reinstitute a 20% merchandise discount for retired employees as well as income for disabled workers, workers’ compensation and certain employee education programs. At a hearing in a Cincinnati court, Federated officials testified that morale at the department store units had fallen since the retail chains filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from creditors on Jan. 15. They said some workers had resigned.
