Friends of Kenneth Obney, who was slain just before Christmas by a gunman in a Santa Claus suit, raised nearly $1,200 for his widow, Mona, and their two teen-age children during a recent benefit at a Covina restaurant and bar.
About 100 people attended the weekend benefit and others donated money. Entertainment was donated by several musicians who shared friends with Obney, including David Hidalgo, guitarist and singer for Los Lobos.
