Positive Notes Come From Music Classes
As a parent who has worked at keeping a music program alive in our own high school, I was happy to see the article on music education. I suppose it was by chance that the article began on the front page and ended next to the obituary column.
Chance or otherwise, it was most appropriate as that is the direction music education is taking.
In addition to monies supposedly directed at math and science, it might be appropriate to also take a look at the monies spent on athletic programs. I believe our athletic programs are important, but a little equity is called for. Perhaps we could consider one less coach and one more music teacher. While I take pleasure in watching a football game, I also enjoy watching the halftime show.
