Armour Leads by Three at Phoenix

Tommy Armour III, who has led or shared the lead all the way, opened up a three-stroke advantage Saturday in the third round of the Phoenix Open golf tournament.

Armour shot a four-under-par 67 on the TPC of Scottsdale course and completed 54 holes in 199, 14 under par.

Brian Tennyson did not make a bogey in a six-under-par 65 that left him second at 202.

Canadian Dave Barr was another stroke back. He overcame some early putting problems and made four consecutive birdies in a round of 68.

Defending champion Mark Calcavecchia, Jay Delsing and Jim Thorpe followed at 204.

Sandy Lyle of Scotland, Clark Burroughs and Billy Ray Brown were six strokes off the pace at 205. Lyle had a 67, and Brown and Burroughs shot 70s.
