Japan Air System Orders Jets: Japan’s third-largest Japanese carrier, Japan Air System, said it has ordered 18 jetliners from Boeing Co. and McDonnell Douglas Corp. with a value of at least $1.4 billion. The order includes eight Boeing 747-400 jumbo jets, worth at least $1 billion, and 10 McDonnell Douglas MD90-30, worth $391 million. Delivery of the Boeing planes is scheduled to start in 1996, with two planes a year through 1999.
