Fixed-Rate Mortgages Rise: Fixed-rate home mortgages surged back over 10% last week and are currently averaging 10.05%, according to a national survey by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. That was up from a rate of 9.90% the previous week. On one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, the average initial rate rose to 8.41%, up from 8.39% the week before.
