Trump’s Plan for Ambassador Site
Gee, we residents of the Wilshire Boulevard-Ambassador Hotel area have the chance for a couple of real plums to fall into our laps.
On the one hand, we have the prospect of Trump dragging his erector sets west in order to construct the latest “tallest building anywhere.” On the other hand, we face the possibility of a “much-needed” high school being built on the Ambassador land.
Should the school become fact, we hope the school board will find some way to get the students into the school for the entire day. Every day of every week from about 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. we have bands of school-age children using our buildings, garages and yards as play/destruction derby areas. When they’re not wreaking havoc with the residential and business property, they’re doing drugs, playing the games at the video store or recklessly racing their skateboards up and down Wilshire from Normandie Avenue to the Ambassador Hotel.
The majority of us welcomed the current attempt by the Los Angeles Police Department to control the impossible drug situation by putting up barricades in the area (Metro, Jan. 17). However, this effort has done next to nothing to stop the graffiti and petty crimes of these wild youngsters.
Tallest Trump or Terrible Truants--what choices!
