Group Seeks Control of Florida Newspaper: A minority shareholder group that includes Texas billionaire Robert M. Bass has offered to buy a controlling interest in the St. Petersburg Times, the Florida newspaper reported. The group offered $270 million for the outstanding shares in Times Holding Co., which owns controlling stock in Times Publishing Co., owner of the Times and its affiliates. Directors are to meet next week, and a formal response is to be issued after deliberations.
