Stewart Kett, skipper of the 50-foot yacht Octavia, was killed last Friday when he was washed overboard near Santa Barbara. Kett, 63, was on his way from Santa Cruz and was scheduled to compete in the San Diego-to-Manzanillo yacht race this weekend. Octavia, which finished third in the 1988 race, has withdrawn.
