City officials in Hartford, Conn., have fined the Hartford Whalers of the NHL $55,500 for failing to hire enough women and minority workers to meet affirmative action requirements during construction of the Hartford Civic Center’s Coliseum Club last summer.
The city required the hiring of 15% minority or women workers in five of seven skilled trades during construction of the $8-million, 300-seat luxury seating area and restaurant.
