The Saugus High girls’ basketball team, 0-16 this season, has had plenty of problems. Throw an efficient Palmdale team into the equation and it spells blowout.
Palmdale, Cal-Hi Sports’ 10th-ranked team in Division I, played one of its best games of the season, routing Saugus, 100-12, in a Golden League game at Palmdale on Friday night.
Palmdale (20-3, 8-0 in league play) came within three points of a school record for points in a game.
The Falcons shot 58% from the field and used all nine players on the roster.
“We shot 58 percent from the floor, 60 percent from the line and ran our offense to perfection,” Palmdale Coach George Corisis said.
Martanya Blair scored a game-high 30 points for Palmdale, and teammates Karee Bonde (20 and seven assists), Nicole Coupland (14 and 12 rebounds) and Angela Arrington (10) all reached double figures.
