LOS ALAMITOS : Pipeline Oil Leaks Into Flood Channel
- Share via
Oil believed to have come from a leaking underground pipeline spilled into a flood control channel Sunday, south of Cerritos Avenue and east of the San Gabriel River Freeway.
The spill was reported to police about 9 a.m. The Orange County Fire Department, federal Environmental Protection Agency and the Orange County Environmental Management Agency went to the scene to assess the spill and oversee cleanup operations.
Police said there are numerous oil pipelines in the area of the spill. Many of them are owned by different companies, making it difficult to determine which firm was responsible.
