Rath Leads Cypress Past Chaffey, 9-4

Left fielder Steve Rath went four for five and drove in six runs as Cypress College defeated Chaffey, 9-4, Sunday in the championship game of the College of the Desert baseball tournament in Palm Springs.

Rath had two doubles, a single and a bases-loaded triple for Cypress. His triple, with two outs in the ninth inning, gave Cypress a 9-3 lead.

Troy Babbitt also had four hits for Cypress (4-0).
