UCLA, USC Women Win Close Ones

Sandra VanEmbricqs and Rehema Stephens each scored 16 points to lead UCLA to a 73-69 win over Arizona at Pauley Pavilion Friday night in women’s basketball.
UCLA (12-8 overall, 7-3 in the Pac-10) led by as many as 18 points in the second half before Arizona (9-12, 2-8) narrowed the margin to two points with a minute to play.
In another Pac-10 game, Tammy Story scored 19 points to lead USC (5-13, 3-8) to a 55-54 win over Arizona State (11-9, 3-7) at Lyon Center. The Trojans had a 13-point lead in the first half, but Karen O’Connor, who had 14 points, led an Arizona State rally in the second half.
