Party Affiliation

How arrogant can a councilperson be?
In a Times article (Jan. 29), our Irvine Councilperson Sally Anne Sheridan mocks the political party affiliations of another member of the council.
Cam Cosgrove is a registered Republican, but Sheridan questions his party affiliations. What gives a person (supposedly working in the public interest) the audacity to infer a colleague is not acting as she thinks a Republican should act? This is disturbing to me and many others who vote across party lines. Also, what does party affiliation have to do with a nonpartisan office?
I am a registered Republican and in the past I’ve supported both parties in city elections, as do all concerned citizens. I truly believe that retraction of Councilwoman Sheridan’s remark would be in order. May dignity, decorum and honor be exhibited at all times by our elected officials.
