Bowers Museum curator Armand J. Labbe has been honored by the government of Colombia, which has issued a postage stamp inspired by Labbe’s book, “Colombia Before Columbus.” The stamp, designed by Colombian artist Maria Cristina Bertran , features a photograph of the artifact on the cover of the book and a drawing of an Indian artist making a piece of pottery. The book, published in the United States by Rizzoli, deals with ceramics dating from 400 BC to the Spanish conquest. Labbe has been a Bowers staff member since 1978.
