Beverly Hills : Industrial Zone Draft Plan

A draft plan for Beverly Hills’ industrial zone provides for corporate and professional offices as well as restaurants, shops and hotels in the triangle-shaped area at the eastern edge of the city.
The plan submitted to the City Council on Tuesday by three consultants will be the subject of an environmental impact report due to be released at the end of February, after which there will be a series of public hearings.
A previous proposal by a developer to build housing in the industrial zone set off years of controversy in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but more recently the trend has been to build offices and corporate headquarters in the area.
The draft plan aims for a “village-like” environment, with buildings no higher than three stories, traffic and parking improvements in place, and a mix of commercial establishments that would attract pedestrians.
