HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER PLAYOFFS : Overtime Goals Boost L.A. Baptist, 2-0

Ron Simpson scored on a penalty kick three minutes into overtime to snap a scoreless tie and start L. A. Baptist on its way to a 2-0 victory over Miraleste in a second-round Southern Section Small Schools Division soccer playoff match match Wednesday at home.
Dan Stepper’s head shot off a throw-in three minutes later iced the match for top-ranked L. A. Baptist (19-2-2). Jeff Hampsten made 10 saves in goal and recorded his ninth shutout.
In another Small Schools match:
Harvard 2, Moorpark 0 (OT)--David Moran, a sophomore striker, scored a goal in each overtime period to lift Harvard at Moorpark.
Greg Harlan assisted on the first goal and Mark Fein on the second. Harvard, ranked fourth in the division, improved to 17-3-4; Moorpark finished 10-9-4.
GIRLS
Agoura 2, St. Joseph 0--Annette Noel and Stephanie Stone each scored first-half goals and Kim Knox posted a shutout in a 3-A match at Agoura.
The Chargers improved to 23-1-2; St. Joseph finished 14-3-2.
