Pass It On: Smokey Robinson and Sheena Easton told heartfelt tales of their own disadvantaged backgrounds in New York on Thursday as the pop stars helped launch a five-year, $40 million literacy campaign sponsored by Coors Brewing Co. A key feature of the campaign, co-sponsored by MCA Music Entertainment Group and several grass-roots literacy organizations, will be a spring concert tour called “Pass It On” that will use music to promote literacy. Cities and dates will be announced later.
