From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Sens. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) proposed legislation providing $600 million to help care for AIDS patients. They said the bill would give “disaster relief” to hard pressed health systems in 13 cities, including Los Angeles, as well as help smaller towns and rural areas where the rate of increase in AIDS is now the greatest. Hatch said that the bill encourages programs that care for patients outside hospitals and allows regions to develop their own solutions.
