WORLD IN BRIEF : INDIA : Sikh Extremists Fire on Market; 22 Killed

Masked Sikh extremists opened fire with rifles on a crowded market in the Punjab state of Chandigarh, killing 22 Hindus and wounding 42 others, officials said. At least 10 Sikh gunmen converged on the main market street of Abohar and began shooting, causing two bombs planted in the market to explode, police said.
