BANGKOK, Thailand — Thai police Wednesday exhumed the body of a suspected Japanese yakuza gangster believed to have been killed and buried last July in the back yard of a rented house in suburban Bangkok.
Police said they found the half-decomposed body of Kaoru Nakao, 53, hidden under a slab of concrete. He apparently had been stabbed with a knife.
Japanese police, who arrived this week to help Thai investigators search for Nakao, said he and two other suspected yakuza members came to Thailand last year with the intent of kidnaping a Japanese businessman for ransom.
