Javier Perez-Serrato, 30, of Tecate, Mexico, was driving the pickup west about 11:50 a.m. on California 94, two miles west of Barrett Lake Road, when he crossed the center lane and collided with the eastbound van, according to Deputy Coroner Penne Hammerstead.

The van’s driver, Georgia Rice, 58, of Chula Vista, and her daughter Ellen Rice, 21, of Escondido were taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Georgia Rice was in fair condition, and Ellen Rice was treated and released.
