COUNTYWIDE : Brush Clearance Deadline Nears
- Share via
More than 3,000 property owners in unincorporated areas of the county have until April 4 to clear their land of vegetation and debris, as part of the County Fire Department’s 1990 Weed Abatement Program.
Sites not cleared by the deadline will be subject to clearing by county-contracted workers. Property owners then will be billed for the work on their tax statements. These charges could be considerable, according to county officials, because they are based on square footage and take into account the steepness of the terrain and the amount of debris removed. Also, an administrative fee is tacked on.
Property owners who think they have a special situation should call the Orange County Fire Department Weed Abatement Program at (714) 744-0500.
Any property owner objecting to the program may attend a Board of Supervisors hearing at 9:30 a.m. April 4.
