Skillman, Diehl Win 1,000 Freestyle Races

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jane Skillman had the fifth-fastest time ever to win the women’s 1,000-yard freestyle Monday night at the U.S. Swimming Short Course National Championships.
Skillman was timed in nine minutes 30.35 seconds, defeating Stacy Cassiday by 12.91 seconds.
Eric Diehl of Mission Viejo won the men’s 1,000-yard freestyle in 8:58.26. Matt Hooper was second in 9:01.43.
