Century City : New Chamber President
Joseph G. Honescko, an executive with the company that developed Century City, has been named president of the Century City Chamber of Commerce.
Honescko is senior vice president and western regional manager of JMB Properties Co., an affiliate of Chicago-based JMB Realty Corp., a major developer whose projects included the building of Century City in the 1960s.
Near the top of the business organization’s agenda for the coming year are several environmental concerns, according to chamber officials.
The chamber has assumed responsibility for developing and coordinating a transportation plan for all Century City companies employing 500 or more people. The South Coast Air Quality Management District has ordered all major employers in the region to develop plans to cut down on automobile use by their workers.
The chamber’s transportation plan is expected to include provisions for increased ride-sharing, van pools and public transportation.
The chamber also is working to develop a community recycling plan aimed at sharply reducing its production of solid waste.
