“Contextures II,” which occupies more than half of this disc, is an apocalyptic vision of great vehemence, leavened with other-wordly beauties and the voices of innocence. Kraft integrates and contrasts several distinct styles in this updated war requiem, and Previn guides the assembled forces in a gripping, evocative performance. “Interplay” is a relatively freewheeling romp, delivered with brio by Polivnick and the Alabamans, while the last piece is essentially an extended fanfare, based on quotations and sturdily played here.
