Neil Sedaka to Undergo Surgery: Singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka, hospitalized since last week with an intestinal ailment, has decided to have surgery to correct the problem, said hospital officials in Danbury, Conn. Sedaka, 51, will probably undergo surgery in the next week. Sedaka, who lives in Westport, Conn., was admitted to Danbury Hospital last Tuesday suffering from diverticulitis, an inflammation of the colon. The singer, who was listed in good and stable condition Monday, planned to remain in the hospital until the surgery is performed. It was not immediately known how long the surgery would take or what the recuperation period would be.
