Motorcyclist Magee Critical After Crash

SAN JOSE — Australian motorcycle racer Kevin Magee was listed in critical condition Monday after surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain sustained in an accident at the U.S. Grand Prix, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Magee crashed his 500cc Suzuki Sunday on the second lap of the 35-lap feature race at Laguna Seca Raceway. The race was restarted after Magee was airlifted to San Jose Medical Center for treatment.

Christi Welter, public relations director of the hospital, said Monday that Magee had undergone a CAT scan earlier in the day. The results were not immediately available.
