A former security guard has been sentenced to five years in state prison for posing as a police officer in order to rob, assault or attempt to sexually molest nine lone female motorists in a series of roadside attacks near the Pomona Freeway last summer.
David Anthony McGregor, 19, of Whittier was charged with 24 counts in connection with the attacks, which occurred between Pico Rivera and Hacienda Heights during the first two weeks of July. The counts include assault with intent to commit rape, brandishing a knife, impersonating a police officer and false imprisonment.
McGregor, who pleaded no contest in January but has denied committing the crimes, was sentenced this week in Pomona by Superior Court Judge William McVittie.
