Weighed Missile Raid, Kadafi Says

ATHENS — Libya considered a missile attack against a U.S. military base in Greece after U.S. warplanes bombed Libya in 1986, Col. Moammar Kadafi told a conference over the weekend.
The Libyan leader said he conferred with a member of his government on the possibility of launching missiles to hit a U.S. military base on Crete.
Kadafi said the population would have been warned of the missiles to give them time to evacuate. Asked why he did not go through with the attack, Kadafi cited what he called Libya’s close relations with Greece and the danger that civilians might be hit.
