A preliminary hearing in Beverly Hills for two brothers charged with murdering their wealthy parents was postponed on Monday until a judge rules on the admissibility of controversial tape recordings of conversations between the defendants and their psychologist.
Municipal Court Judge Charles G. Rubin said that a date for the hearing could be set on June 8 in the case of Erik and Lyle Menendez, charged with the murder of entertainment executive Jose Menendez and his wife, Kitty.
Rubin also ruled that a hearing on a prosecution request for handwriting samples from the brothers would be heard June 8.
All arguments on issues discussed Monday were held in the judge’s chambers with press and public excluded.
