H. Cohen, 95, Ex-Owner of Pimlico, Dies

BALTIMORE — Herman Cohen, president of Pimlico race course from 1952 until he sold it in 1986, died today at age 95. Cohen had cancer.
His death came just two days before the 115th running of the Preakness, second jewel of the Triple Crown.
Four years ago, Cohen sold the track to Frank De Francis, who died in August.
Since the sale, Cohen operated a Baltimore land developing and construction business with his younger brother, 90-year-old Ben Cohen.
Cohen also raced and bred thoroughbreds, and he was a past director of the Thoroughbred Racing Assn.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, two brothers, a sister, two grandchildren and a niece.
