Paul D. Bussey, city manager in La Palma for the past four years, will take over as Rancho Palos Verdes’ chief executive June 18, Rancho Palos Verdes Mayor Mel Hughes announced Friday. He will be paid $80,000 a year.
Bussey, who was chosen from a group of 35 candidates, replaces Dennis McDuffie. In February, McDuffie decided not to extend his contract with the city after months of friction with Councilmen Robert Ryan and John McTaggart over a number of issues, including development.
Bussey has been city manager in Carlsbad and Loma Linda and has worked in administrative positions for El Cajon and Escondido.
