From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Thirty-nine inmates were injured during a weekend of violence at San Bernardino County Central Jail, authorities said. Most of the injuries were cuts and bruises, but 10 inmates required hospitalization, a county sheriff’s spokesman said. Overcrowding may also have played a role, as the facility houses more than 1,600 in space designed for 700.
