Vietnam Frees 500 Thai Fishermen

BANGKOK, Thailand — Vietnam has freed more than 500 Thai fishermen after Thailand paid $1,000 each for their release, a Thai official said Wednesday. Thai military aircraft flew to Vietnam on Wednesday to pick up 250 fishermen, and the rest will be flown home today.
