Uriel Fernandez; San Fernando High School athlete

Funeral services for Uriel Fernandez, a 16-year-old pitcher for San Fernando High School’s junior varsity team who was killed in a car accident last week, have been scheduled for Sunday and Monday.
Uriel, who was recently promoted to the varsity team, had hoped to study electrical engineering at UCLA or Stanford.
He died June 1 in San Fernando following an accident in Mission Hills.
A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday at J.T. Oswald Chapel, 1001 N. Maclay Ave. in San Fernando, with visitation from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 10390 Remick Ave. in Pacoima. Burial will follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills.
Uriel is survived by his mother, Graciela Fernandez; father, Roberto Fernandez; a brother, Edgar Fernandez, and a sister, Daisy Fernandez, all of Pacoima.
J.T. Oswald Mortuary in San Fernando is handling the arrangements.
