GUN ‘N’ ROBBERS: Support for gun ownership has been particularly strong among Orange County robbers, 59% of whom used one on the job in 1979. . . . But robbers’ use of guns has been declining, in favor of strong-arm and other tactics. . . . Why? Tougher laws, say cops. Robbery can get you two to six years in prison, but using a gun can add two more years to the sentence.
