Argentina to Shut A-Plant

BUENOS AIRES — Argentina’s troubled Atucha 1 nuclear power plant, shut down by a broken fuel rod in 1988, will again halt operations for further repairs, officials said Saturday.
Managers at Atucha 1, Latin America’s oldest nuclear power plant which produces 5% to 7% of Argentina’s electricity, said the reactor would be shut down for 40 days beginning at the end of July.
