Getting there: South Pass City, Wyo., can be reached via a well-marked dirt road off Route 28, about 30 miles southwest of Lander, Wyo. Atlantic City is a few miles from South Pass City.
Visitor center: The South Pass Visitor Center, a museum with exhibits about the town and local mining techniques, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
