Left-handed pitcher Mark Langston, who struck out 23 batters in two starts, has been named Angel of the Week by The Times’ Orange County Edition.
Langston pitched 16 innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs. He didn’t get a decision in one start and lost the other, dropping his record to 4-6.
But Langston lowered his earned-run average to 3.29 and moved into second place in the AL in strikeouts with 86. The Angels’ team ERA is third in the AL at 3.53.
A check for $250 in Langston’s name will be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Orange County.
