WASHINGTON — Georgetown Coach John Thompson is considering the post of general manager of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets.
According to today’s editions of USA Today, the Nuggets talked Sunday night with Thompson about the job.
“I would say I’ll be coaching at Georgetown next year,” Thompson said. “That’s what I believe will happen. (But) we are exploring our options. I think I owe it to myself to listen anytime somebody proposes something to me.”
Nuggets owners Bob Wussler, Peter Bynoe and Bert Lee met Sunday night with Thompson, agent David Falk and longtime Thompson assistant Mary Fenlon, according to USA Today. The newspaper said Thompson was offered a $700,000-a-year contract for four or five years.
“Anytime John Thompson’s available, we’re real interested,” Wussler told the newspaper.
