Science Series for PBS: GTE Corp. said Monday that it has agreed to provide $11 million over five years to underwrite a new series for PBS, “Scientific American Frontiers.” The magazine-format series will air five times a year, beginning in October, 1990. “We hope that by stimulating students’ interest in science today, we are helping to ensure that technology-driven companies like GTE will have an adequate labor pool of engineers, scientists and technicians to draw from in the future,” said GTE Chairman James L. Johnson.
